Base is a low-cost, secure Ethereum L2 designed to bring the next billion users onchain. Base is being developed within Coinbase with ambitions to further decentralize in the coming years. Base is built in conjunction with Optimism on the MIT-licensed OP Stack.
Base does not currently have its own token, but Coinbase's CLO has hinted at the idea of introducing one in the future. If they establish their own token, early protocol users may be eligible for an airdrop.
