The ASX 200 is a stock market index comprised of the top 200 Australian shares traded on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX). The ASX 200 is an excellent place to begin investing in stocks for beginners because it provides exposure to some of Australia's most successful businesses while also providing enough diversity that long-term investors do not feel overly exposed to a single sector or industry.
