The Nasdaq Stock Market is a global electronic stock market where investors can buy and sell stocks. The National Association for Securities Dealers Automated Quotations, or Nasdaq, was founded as a subsidiary of what is now the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), formerly known as the National Association for Securities Dealers (NASD). The first day of operation was February 8, 1971.
