What is the total supply of LINK tokens?
The total supply of LINK tokens is 1,000,000,000 (1 billion). This is the maximum number of LINK tokens that can ever be created. The total supply is allocated as follows:

35% (350 million LINK) was sold in the Chainlink initial coin offering (ICO) in September 2017.
32% (320 million LINK) is held by the Chainlink team and advisors.
30% (300 million LINK) is reserved for the Chainlink ecosystem, including node operators, stakers, and other community members.
The Chainlink team has stated that they will not release any new LINK tokens into circulation without community approval. This means that the total supply of LINK tokens is effectively fixed.

Why is the total supply of LINK tokens important?

The total supply of a token is important because it affects its scarcity and value. A token with a limited supply is more likely to be valuable than a token with an unlimited supply. This is because people are more willing to pay for something that is scarce.

The total supply of LINK tokens is relatively low, which is one of the factors that contributes to its value. Another factor that contributes to LINK's value is its utility. LINK tokens are used to pay node operators for providing data to smart contracts. As more and more smart contracts are built on the Chainlink network, the demand for LINK tokens is likely to increase.
